Noah’s Ark joins choir’s bid for Christmas No1
Noah’s Ark staff, volunteers and supporters are aiming for the Christmas number 1 slot with a cover version of ‘The Living Years’, as part of the 300-strong London Hospices Choir.
The charity version of the Mike + the Mechanics hit was recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road studios.
The choir brings together 18 hospices from across the capital, who will all share in the project’s profits.
Leading the choir is vocalist Paul Carrack, who was the voice of the original 1991 hit.
Choir member Eleanor Frost, a Family Link Worker from Noah’s Ark, explained why she got involved. “The opportunity came up to take part and it sounded amazing,” she said. “How often do you get the chance to say you’ve recorded at Abbey Road, while helping a cause that’s so close to your heart?”
While the single isn’t released until 16 December, it can be ordered now from iTunes and Amazon, where it’s already number 1 in the Amazon Movers and Shakers chart.
You can also watch a behind the scenes video of the recording on YouTube.
Paul Carrack explained why he was happy to take part: “The Living Years has been an important song for me for many years, but this is the version that means the most. Recording it with this incredibly special group of people for such a worthwhile cause has created some kind of magic. It’s a powerful and inspiring track, and I hope that everyone gets behind it this Christmas.”
You can order the single from Amazon as a CD or digital version as well as from iTunes.
