Spurs star plays football Noah’s Ark-style
Tottenham Hotspur star Kyle Walker paid three Noah’s Ark children a surprise visit on Friday 9 December.
Wiktor (year 6), Eli (year 6) and Gulirem (year 1), who attend the same school, are supported by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
They invited their football hero to a match of their own – on the mats in the school hall.
Kyle made the visit as part of his club’s charity partnership with Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, to help promote the charity’s Precious Moments Appeal, held annually ahead of the festive season.
He said, “It’s a massive reality check, having two boys myself. I’ve just come down to show my appreciation for what Noah’s Ark do.
“I’m grateful for the support they give these kids. Being footballers you can live in a bubble.
“I’ve got an auntie who has down syndrome, so I see both sides of it. It’s nice to come down here and give a little bit back.
“I’ve never played football this way before but I’m going to try and take it back home and maybe get my little boy to play this instead of kicking the ball around the hallway and breaking loads of ornaments.”
Responding to the fact that he’s seen as a hero to local children, Kyle said, “I try and think I’m a normal person but to some people I am different, and hopefully by coming down here, signing a few things and saying hello I can put a smile on faces.”
Alison Goodman of Noah’s Ark joined Kyle in the game of football with Wiktor, Eli and Gulirem. She said, “It’s made the day, for so many children and families here. Noah’s Ark is all about making every precious moment count – and focussing always on what’s possible. This is how Wiktor, Eli and Gulirem play football – and it’s wonderful that Kyle got down on the mats to join them.
“We are extremely grateful, on behalf of the children for whom Kyle is a hero, but also for the boost his support gives our annual appeal.
