Ho Ho Ho … family of Santas raises £1,000 for Noah’s Ark
Matt Selby and his daughters Jenna, Tiffany and Emma, along with Buster the bulldog, all took part in this year’s Santa Run on 4 December raising more than £1,000 for Noah’s Ark.
The popular annual event sees 4,000 people dress up in Santa garb to run 5k or 10k around Victoria Park, east London. This year 12 runners took part for Team Noah, raising a total of £1,800.
Matt explained how his love of football inspired him to get involved with Noah’s Ark: “I have been a Spurs season ticket holder for nearly 40 years, and the video of Harry Kane helping at the house of one of the children really touched my heart. I thought: ‘If he can do that, so can I’.
“At present I am waiting to be accepted and placed with a family to provide similar home help. In the meantime I am helping out with a few fundraising events when I can.
“I tell my three daughters all the time how lucky they are that they are fit, happy and healthy … and I try to make them appreciate the plight of those less fortunate. They too are touched by the children that Noah’s Ark is helping and they love to help out whenever they can.
The Selbys set up a JustGiving page, where friends, family and clients gave generously – plus they all donned Santa hats to collect an extra £330 in the pubs along their local Epping High Street. An extra push on Facebook got them to their £1,020 total. Says Matt: “We are all so proud and delighted that we managed to achieve this and I believe it will become an annual event for our family.”
