Great Hopping Hill Bake Off Raises a Tasty Sum for the Hospice
When 9 year old Maddison Mandley, a year 4 pupil at Hopping Hill Primary School, came to visit her grandfather at Cynthia Spencer Hospice she was so impressed by the care he was receiving she wanted to raise money to help.
Together with her mum, Zoe, 7 year old brother Alfie and teacher Heather Parker, Maddison came up to the Hospice recently to handover £310.80 which was raised on the cake sale day to Matron, Gail Oliver.
Heather, who helped Maddison and her friends Taylor and Kirsten organise the cake sale on Friday 10th February said: “We were blown away by this amount, lots of people had put notes in to the collection so we knew we were going to do well.
“We are so proud of the girls and the money they've raised for such a worthy cause” she continued.
Pupils, parents and teachers rallied together to create a huge range of lovely homemade cakes that were sold at morning break to the whole school. In fact, so many cakes were made and donated that it was decided to continue the sale after school so parents could buy them when collecting their children.
