Hundreds unleash their superpowers!
Castle Park in Colchester was home to more than 300 runners, film fans, comic book buffs and superheroes on Sunday 19th March at St Helena Hospice’s Comic Hero Run.
The event saw children and adults of all ages dressed in fantastic costumes including Teenage Mutant Turtles, superheroes, Star Wars and other film characters running 10k, 5k or 1k to raise funds for St Helena Hospice.
Ahead of the event, 73 people registered for the 10k route; 97 for the 5k route and 132 for the 1k route. An extra 33 runners registered on the day.
Wendy Marcon, Events and Challenges Manager at St Helena Hospice, was delighted with the fun run. She said: “We’re so excited that over 300 comic heroes joined us for this super event in historic Castle Park. It was a tremendously successful day and is set to raise in excess of £15,000 for the hospice.
“We first launched the event at the brilliant Invasion Colchester last September and we’re amazed at the fantastic support we have had. So much effort went into all the runners’ costumes, they were fantastic. Thank you to everyone for getting into the spirit of the day by dressing up and having fun. Also a massive thanks to our wonderful volunteers who donated their time and enthusiasm to make this day so great – a heroic effort from all!”
