Noah’s Ark spotlighted on BBC Children in Need

Did you see Noah’s Ark featured on BBC Children in Need on Friday 17 November, with a film starring Jules, one of their fantastic Specialist Carers? The film gives an insight into a day in the life of a Noah’s Ark Specialist Carer and shows the impact that Jules’ care has on the children and families he supports.

Their nurse-trained Specialist Carers visit family homes, providing care alongside fun and stimulating play activities. The charity were thrilled that BBC Children in Need chose to showcase Noah’s Ark because they are so proud of the work they do to support children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. The film is a wonderful tribute and, thanks to BBC Children in Need Appeal Night, reached an estimated audience of 8 million viewers! Noah’s Ark receives a 3-year grant from Children in Need to part-fund their Specialist Care Team.

Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice are grateful for the grant they receive from BBC Children in Need, and the chance to showcase their work, but the film focuses on just one of their Specialist Carers and three of the families they support. If they are to reach the 1,200 children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in their area, who need their help and support, then they must do more. This is why they are building The Ark, the first children’s hospice building in North and Central London.

Once built, The Ark will complement their Hospice-at-Home services, providing 24-hour end-of-life and post-death care, overnight stays and sensory, music and art rooms. The state-of-the-art building is set within a beautiful 7.5 acre nature reserve in Barnet.
