Lynne's Winner Story
On a cold December afternoon, £1000 winner Miss Lynne Horner came in to tell us her story and how she became our weekly top prize winner!
Lynne was joined by her dad, who has volunteered at St Helena Hospice, along with her mum in a variety of roles and who is a long term hospice supporter.
Lynne, explains: “Dad volunteered at the Hospice for around 8 years, and drove a private car for Clacton and Colchester, picking up people who were going to Hospice day care centres. Mum volunteered for over 10 years at Myland Hall on reception, in the kitchen, day care centre, and a buddying role too!
Unfortunately my mum has recently passed away and had played the lottery since 2002, and my dad transferred her number into my name, so when the cheque arrived I was delighted!”
“It’s nice to know that the Hospice has grown from small beginnings to what it is now,” says Lynne’s Dad.
When asked what she might spend the money on, Miss Horner said that she would like to donate some to charity but to enjoy some herself on a few excursions whilst on a cruise to Iceland next year- and why not!
Lynne adds: ‘It is a brilliant charity, there are so many ways to support from volunteering to playing the lottery. Don’t forget to donate to the shops.”
