Fundraising Representatives

About our fundraisers.

Your Hospice Lottery has raised £17m for hospice care through our loyal lottery members. The majority of our members joined our lottery because of direct contact with a fundraising representative, either at a shopping venue or at the door.

We work with paid professional fundraisers from small external agencies who are out and about in the communities served by our hospice partners talking to people about the vital work of each hospice and how the lottery raises money to support patient care. We also work with telesales agencies who may call you on our behalf.

Our fundraising pledges.

Direct debit

The fundraisers are asking people to join Your Hospice Lottery in support of one of our hospice partners and to pay by Direct Debit. This payment method reduces administration costs and means your hospice can plan its services knowing there is a regular income.

Sorry, no cheques

The fundraisers are not allowed to take payment to join our lottery by cash but they can take cheques made payable to Your Hospice Lottery.

The fundraisers will be carrying ID with the name of the hospice they are representing and the name of the external agency they work for.

The fundraisers' photographs are displayed on our meet our fundraisers page.

We're serious about doing things right.

We aim to make sure any contact made regarding Your Hospice Lottery is a positive experience.

Supporting you

We take any complaint very seriously and immediately investigate any cause for concern from a member of the public.

Codes of practise

We do all we can to make sure anyone representing our hospice partners on behalf of Your Hospice Lottery complies with law and ethical fundraising codes of practice.

We insist the fundraisers are respectful, open and honest; and never put pressure on you.

The reputation of each hospice partner locally is of paramount importance and it is never our intention to knowingly upset the people who support the work of the hospice or of our lottery.

Legal requirements

It is a legal requirement to ensure that before a supporter completes an application form to take part in the lottery, the paid fundraisers representing us must make it clear:

Which hospice they are asking you to join our lottery in support of.

That the hospice works with St Helena, a hospice charity based in Colchester to raise funds for hospice care across Great Britain.

All money raised as a result of our lottery will benefit that hospice, with St Helena also benefiting by providing the administration of the lottery, but by the hospices working together in this way, all proceeds stay within the hospice sector.

That as a paid fundraiser, he/she does receive an income for the role which is funded from a small budget specifically allocated for the purposes of encouraging new members to play our lottery in support of hospice care.
