Christmas trees set to raise thousands for St Helena Hospice

St Helena Hospice is pleased to announce the return of their annual Christmas tree-cycle on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th January.

St Helena Hospice is pleased to announce the return of their annual Christmas tree-cycle on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th January.

They have teamed up with Colchester Borough Council to offer a recycling service for supporters with real Christmas trees. There will be a team of volunteers collecting trees from homes over the weekend in postcode areas CO1 to CO7.

The charity is asking people to think of those in their local community living with life-limiting illness at this time of year. Christmas Tree-Cycle is a practical way for local people to help the hospice continue to provide support to families and patients when they need it most. The hospice welcomes a suggested donation of £7.50 per tree.

Chloe Winter, Fundraising Partnerships Manager at St Helena Hospice said “We’re really pleased to have the support from Colchester Borough Council again this year to provide this collection alongside our new partnership with local gardening company, Blowers and Mowers. A sponsor for this initiative ensures that we can reach as many homes in the CO1 to CO7 postcode, last year we raised an incredible £7000 and we hope to raise even more this year. The Collection relies solely on volunteers and van owners to support the collection itself, if you’re able to help on either or both dates please contact either myself or my colleague Sarah Wilson on or

Colchester Borough Councils Portfolio Holder for Waste and Sustainability, Councillor Dominic Graham, said: “We are only too pleased to once again support St Helena Hospice by recycling the Christmas trees they collect as part of their fundraising efforts.  With all the extra recycling residents have to dispose of at this busy time of year, the charity collection is a great, hassle-free way to get even more from your real tree.  I hope even more residents go online to donate and book a collection.”

To register for this year’s collection please visit here or call the fundraising team on 01206 931468.
