Local businesses and organisations, big and small, that participated in the Birkett Long £50 Challenge gathered for a special awards evening at Firstsite in Colchester yesterday evening to celebrate raising an incredible collective of £43,985.66 for St Helena Hospice.
The Apprentice-style challenge sought each team to dig deep and find their inner Alan Sugars as they took on the event’s fifth year of fundraising for the hospice. This year there were 30 teams who devised a host of creative fundraising ideas to raise as much money as possible for the hospice from a ‘starter’ £50 note kindly donated by local solicitors Birkett Long.
Since its inception in 2012, the challenge has raised a whopping £201,036.51.
Each team received a glass star trophy for their contributions to the fundraising; and five teams chosen by Birkett Long and the Hospice’s corporate team were given special engraved awards.
The top five winners:
Connecting with the Business Community Award – Constable VAT Consultancy LLP
Innovation – Whybrow
Teamwork – Codair Design and publicity Ltd
Leading Fundraiser – Delphi Derivatives Ltd
Promoting St Helena Hospice – Blowers Hair and Beauty
