On Sunday 18th September Tesco held a charity football match in aid of KEMP Hospice which saw colleagues from two stores battle for a coveted trophy as well as a good deal of store pride.
Held at Stourport Swifts Football Club, Tesco Stourport played Tesco Worcester 2 (Warndon Villages). About 100 spectators attended the evening which saw Stourport Tesco win by 6 – 0. Worcester’s Ashley Oliver won man of the match for his efforts on the pitch.
The hugely enjoyable evening included a raffle and free food for all players and spectators at the end of the game. Stourport Swifts FC generously gave their facilities, kits and balls completely free of charge and opened the bar throughout and after the game.
The evening raised £255.60 for the Hospice and Amanda Bent, The Community Champion and Services Manager at Stourport Tesco said,
“It was an absolutely fantastic evening, with the sun shining too! Every player thoroughly enjoyed the game and said how great it was to be enjoying themselves and raising money for such a great charity! Obviously, it was great to see our store lift the trophy at the end of the game! I would like to say a massive thank you to John at Stourport Swifts FC for allowing to use their facilities completely free of charge and also Cathy from Kemp Hospice for coming along to the game to lend a helping hand. It was great to see so many people there to watch!”
