In current times, you may feel like no matter where you go, you cannot escape the news and media discussing Covid-19 and may just be looking for a bit of light relief. The team at Your Hospice Lottery thought we would give you an insight into our history and how we started.
Your Hospice Lottery began our life nearly 20 years ago in 2001. We have always been a fundraising lottery but were originally known as the St Helena Hospice Lottery. In May 2011, we expanded into Cambridge in association with Arthur Rank Hospice Charity to increase the amount of funds that can be given back to hospice care. From there, we transformed into who we are today, Your Hospice Lottery.
In 2013, we launched our rollover prize giving our members the opportunity to win up to £10,000 and in 2014, we recruited our second, third and fourth partners; including Salisbury Hospice Charity in Wiltshire and Cynthia Spencer Hospice. March 2014 enabled us to give away our first ever rollover prize of £3,750 and in the December of that year, we unveiled our new logo and website and have been growing ever since.
Where we are now
Fast forward to 2020, we have grown tremendously over the last decade and now have fourteen incredible partners on board. We are now able to offer 175 weekly £10 prizes, 1 prize of £1000 and a rollover of £25,000! Our wonderful lottery members have now raised over £12 million for hospice care across the country, helping to improve the quality of life to those in need served by our hospice partners.
