Craige Els first joined Your Hospice lottery when out shopping at Morrisons on Kettering Road around 6 years ago and he came into the hospice recently to talk to us about his £1,000 win.
Talking about how he was drawn to anything supporting Cynthia Spencer Hospice because of how well his Mum had been cared for he said: “As soon as I saw the Cynthia Spencer branding I jumped at the chance to support the hospice. My Mum had been a patient a few years earlier and the care she, and I, received was amazing. That had been my first experience of hospice care and it brought hospices really close to home for me”.
So, what would Craige say to other people considering signing up? “I’d say ‘go for it’! I’m not the kind of person who ever wins anything and I guess I signed up purely to support a cause I really believe in rather than ever thinking I would win anything. I just thought, if I can put my money anywhere, I’ll put it there, so this win is a very unexpected bonus! Playing the lottery is a great way of regularly supporting the hospice as your weekly membership doesn’t cost you a lot but it means a lot to the hospice and the patient care they can provide.”
