Georgina Sheppard, a supporter of St Helena Hospice, thought she was dreaming when she received a lottery prize cheque for £1,000.
She told us: ‘I just couldn’t believe it. I thought wow, this is great! I had to read it over and over because I just couldn’t believe it; it’s wonderful.
‘My mum was going into a hospice at the end of her life but unfortunately she died in hospital so she never got there. My sister, who I lost when she was only 36, was in a hospice and I thought what a wonderful place it was. They are just so marvellous for people.’
Mrs Sheppard joined Your Hospice Lottery as a way of supporting a local charity and would encourage other people to join too:
‘I would urge other people to play the lottery because not only does it have a chance of winning, you’re giving to a good cause.’
