Sue Hambleton is a member of Your Hospice Lottery and is also one of St Helena Hospice’s amazing volunteers, donating her time to help out on the reception desk and in one of the hospice shops.   

‘I join in on Facebook to find out what else is happening in the local community to help raise money and to also spread the word about the good work taking place to care for people locally. My daughter’s friend requested donations to St Helena Hospice rather than flowers at her mum’s funeral. Her mum was a very brave person who sadly passed away before she was admitted for hospice care. ’  

‘I wanted to see what else I could do, so I visited the website to find out about volunteering opportunities. I didn’t realise how much money was needed to keep St Helena Hospice going, so I became a member of Your Hospice Lottery online by direct debit – it’s a great way to raise regular funds.’ 

‘I love my voluntary work… It gives me a sense of purpose and structure to my week. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and it really is such a pleasure to help in a small way.’
