St Helena Hospice

St Helena Hospice

St Helena Hospice help local people face incurable illness, supporting them and their families, friends, and carers.

They also help adults and children in north east Essex who have been bereaved, regardless of how or where their loved one died.

They support members of their community, helping them make their own choices and live with dignity. By focusing on their physical, emotional and spiritual needs, they aim to bring comfort and relief to all those who need it, offering the people of north east Essex individual care and total support, regardless of their diagnosis or personal circumstances.

Support is provided where and when it is needed, whether at home, at the Hospice or over the phone through their 24/7 advice line, SinglePoint.

St Helena Hospice is an independent charity, providing its services free of charge. Around 7 in 10 of the people we support are funded through the local community giving donations, buying in St Helena shops, paying for care from Radfield Home Care in support of St Helena, playing Your Hospice Lottery, and leaving gifts in Wills.

They rely heavily on the help and generosity of fundraisers, donors, and volunteers. Without them they wouldn’t be here.
Their ultimate goals are: to be there for everyone who needs them, helping life to go on in the face of dying, death, and bereavement:

  • 4,460 local people facing incurable illness and bereavement supported last year.
  • 45,554 calls to the St Helena SinglePoint 24/7 advice line in the last year from people seeking their help.
  • Around 7 out of 10 of the people St Helena supports are funded through the local community playing Your Hospice Lottery, giving donations, buying in St Helena shops, paying for care from Radfield Home Care in support of St Helena and leaving gifts in Wills.
  • 829,045 lottery tickets were bought across the last year in support of St Helena.

From your very first game, you will help St Helena Hospice raise vital funds that will support people in need in the local community. Some examples of what your contribution could pay for are:

  • £10 could help a patient staying at the hospice to keep their strength up by providing nutritious, home cooked meals for a day.
  • £23 could provide pain management and symptom relief for a patient, along with emotional support and advice for their family with a visit from a hospice clinical nurse specialist.
  • £50 will provide the care and support a family in crisis needs in the depth of night with a visit from a SinglePoint nurse in their home.
  • £130 could provide vital care and support for patients at the end of their life from a registered nurse at the hospice for half a day.
